Ebay sellers who continually sell fake coins as genuine - caveat emptor!
Information Source 1
5th February 2023, Facebook group Saxon Coins Sceats and Thrymsas, David Robinson posted:
I’ve recently put a section on my website that filters the Celtic part of eBay to remove the fakes and just show the real coins. I’ve added the Anglo Saxon feed as well, but it’s not my area of expertise and the better fakes are beyond me. I can filter out the known fake sellers, reproductions, obvious fakes, and the out of scope items, so I think it will still be useful to people as it gets rid of most of the dross.
If you find it useful then please bookmark the page and use the links on it to go to eBay when you bid, and if you spot any fakes that have made it through then please let me know. I could really do with help making this bit of eBay safer for people to use.
This is an excellent initiative. Visit David's Real Bay, eBay without the Fakes here.

Alex Bliss advises:
I don't keep a gallery of those per se, but I can link you all of the eBay profiles who are involved and provide some extra information.
These fakes all appear to be from similar dies engraved by the same individual or perhaps cast from fakes themselves. They started appearing in late 2019 or early 2020 to my knowledge, being sold out of London via an eBay account called 'vallface'. However, 'vallface' seems to have diversified his business/inspired others of late - more eBay accounts selling them subsequently sprang up, variously named;
'coincoiiecting' (out of London)
'valina99' (out of London)
'akahyu-0' (out of Grays, Essex)
'eazydeals2022' (out of Bristol)
'b-antiques' (out of Bristol)
'coinmaster_01' (out of Ashby-de-la-Zouch)
Either this is a big network of related people, or we've got people all over the place catching on and replicating them. They're not only copying sceattas and stycas, but also British Iron Age coins, Middle Saxon pennies and Merovingian pieces. Shockingly, they're also fooling auction houses (https://www.numisbids.com/n.php?p=lot&sid=6294&lot=1767).
Links to their eBay accounts below - all filled with images. They're flooding the market - most of the 'sceattas' or 'stycas' currently listed on eBay are via these accounts:
